Product Information

The London, Midland & Scottish Railway (LMS) rebuilt two former London & North Western Railway (LNWR) accident damaged Claughton Class locomotives at Crewe Works in 1930. A further 39 locomotives were rebuilt at Crewe in 1932 and 1933. Whilst these were regarded as rebuilds for accountancy purposes and used some original components, they were technically new locomotives built to replace an identical number of Claughton's. The final ten locomotives were regarded as brand new construction and were completed in 1934. The Patriots were a smaller boiler version of the Royal Scots and were often referred to by enthusiasts as Baby Scots. The Patriot locomotives were used for express passenger and parcels/express freight. The Bachmann Branchline model depicts the locomotive in its original as built condition. Following World War 2, 18 of the Class were rebuilt between 1946 and 1949 with the Stanier 2A boilers and had new cabs and tenders. The remainder were retained in traffic in original condition. The first locomotive was withdrawn in February 1961 and the last in December 1965.
